Recently Elle’s been on me to write some more blogs, or at least finish the five I have already started. I’ve mainly been watching Vampire Diaries and The Original’s so we all know what happens when there are seasons upon seasons of a T.V. show on Netflix… well nothing really happens except hours of binge watching said T.V. show. So now that I’ve finished watching all the seasons on Netflix, I need some new content for my “blog writing,” which is one of the reasons we headed off to Brett and Elle’s house last night.
Now Daniel and I have had about 200 sparklers saved in our house from our best friends wedding last summer so we thought it would be fun to experiment with them as well as practicing with flash. Because to be completely honest we can never be too good at what we do. Which is exactly why we are always practicing and getting better. You have no idea the amount of YouTube videos we as photographers watch so we can better ourselves at what we do. I spend hours just "pinteresting" so I can be the best I can be... but really, practice makes perfect so we love to practice!
So on to the exciting part! Number one if you know anything about Brett and Elle you know they have four crazy children, the younger ones always seem to find themselves in front of the camera. They mainly find themselves in front of the camera because I somehow bribe them into being my models. But on this particular day we were actually using Brett and Elle while we played with lighting... and pizza.
So after using Brett, Elle, Daniel, and Donatos Pizza we moved on the SPARKLERS!!!! This is where those two crazy munchkins found there way outside (without me bribing them with princess dresses, painting their nails, or candy I might add). Maddyx almost gave us a heart attack because she wasn't afraid of the sparkler and kept putting it way too close to her face! But that's Maddy for you.
As you will notice, Kikee feeling left out decided to join her daring sister. She however wasn't as crazy with her sparkler. From these photos you also see the difference between natural lighting (which included the street light: below photos) and the flash with the street light (see above photo). It really depends on what style and look you are going for when it comes to sparklers but we as a team had a fun time practicing both. I love what cameras can do!!!
What I really hope you all realize is that we don't just do photography as a job. We take photos because it really is something we love to do! We are always trying to come up with new projects, photo shoots, and all around creative ideas to keep us in love with the art of photography. So stay tuned for the adventures of Brett loves Elle... but really we are going to be practicing and keeping our minds fresh with all things photography in the day and weeks to come in preparation for the upcoming wedding season. Gina out...
