LINDSEY AND MICHAEL, HARGUS LAKE ENGAGEMENT SESSION, CIRCLEVILLE, OHIO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER.
SMOKE BOMBS AND SPARKLERS
The team was so excited to find out Lindsey wanted a fun outdoorsy shoot. She had mentioned Hocking Hills and canoes, but this time of year isn't the season... SO, thinking like Elle... We picked up a canoe just for their session! As for the location... I'm a bit biased and absolutely love Hargus Lake (A.W. Marion State Park). It comes from living in Circleville for so long.
Our couple arrived and we were so excited! Their session included greenery, a beautiful lake backdrop, wine to stay warm, and Gracie -their fun loving Boxer! Gracie just adored both Lindsey & Mike and they adored her. You could definitely tell that she was their fur baby!! To top it off, we brought out the smoke bombs and sparklers. We shot until we couldn't shoot anymore!! That should tell it all!
HOW THEY MET
Michael and I met while out with friends a little over 3 1/2 years ago. I had just moved home from Austin, Texas, and was not looking to date anyone at the time, but Michael just kept sticking around and has been one of the most stable, steady things in my life ever since. We kept running into each other while out with friends, and it took that happening at least 5 times before he asked me on a proper date. One of those times, I remember specifically seeing him out, and all of his friends were there, but he stayed by me the whole time, I remember him standing behind me almost in a protective manner, and I thought the feeling was a little strange because we didn't know each other that well, but I felt safe. I think that was the moment I knew this might be going somewhere. One time I asked him why he kept sticking around despite my hesitancy and he said because I was smart, pretty, and funny, and he wanted to spend time with me.
For our first date, we had drinks on the patio at Hubbard Grill. In subsequent dates, we bonded over nature documentaries, the Buckeyes, and Cleveland sports. Our first date was in June and I learned that Michael had made plans to go teach English in Thailand for six months. I was part devastated/part understanding. I knew I had needed the move to Austin and I think everyone should get out of their surroundings and move somewhere new, it teaches you a lot about yourself. So he left, and I stayed with him while he was gone, visiting him towards the end. Getting on the plane to leave him in Thailand was so hard after spending a great week together.
After Michael FINALLY came home, we moved in together in our apartment here in Harrison West and are still here. Michael took on the role of Gracie, my boxer's dad and she absolutely adores him. Sometimes I'm like, "I'm sorry but did you forget who raised you?" lol I'm obsessed with her. I've had her since I was 21 and we basically grew up together. My mom told Michael she was going to give him one piece of advice when we started dating and that was that he better love Gracie more than he loves me if he wants it to work.
So naturally, Michael included her in our engagement. When we first met, Michael lived on the edge of Goodale Park and we have spent a lot of time there and have a lot of memories there. They day we got engaged, he asked if I wanted to walk Gracie to the park (duh, anything for Gracie). It was July and it was HOT. Once we got to the park, Michael suggested we sit in the shade to cool down, and shortly after got up and said he was going to take Gracie to find a stick to play with. I stayed in the shade. When they came back, Gracie had a bandana around her neck and upon inspecting it, I found a new, heart-shaped dog tag that said "Marry my Dad?" with my ring on it. I looked up to see Michael on one knee and it was no question. I can't think of a better match for me, or a better Daddy for Gracie! We truly are best friends, and our life together is so easy. When you love someone as much as we love each other, it's so easy to put selfishness aside and care about the other person's happiness just as much as your own.
These two are the absolute sweetest especially together! I was cracking up every time Michael would smile Lindsey would say, "not the fake smile, okay guys, make him laugh for real." This is when Brett would yell something inappropriate from the shore and make him laugh and smile for real. It was hilarious! These two really are best friends and I LOVE that!
