WEDDING DAY TIPS: Lets Talk About Your Bouquet!

WEDDING DAY TIPS: Lets Talk About Your Bouquet!

There are so many seemingly tiny details relating to your bouquet...or bouquets if your bridesmaids are carrying one that could save you some serious wiltage on your day of...I don't even think wiltage is a word but it sounded right. So read on ladies, read on!

First, I must tell you the story of why we even carry bouquets...a bride just told me why at a recent wedding and I thought it was too funny not to share! So, in the 1600's and for some time after that, people bathed so infrequently...normally yearly to be exact. People tended to bath in May and would generally get married in June. Just to be safe, brides carried bouquets to mask the smell of body odor. Not only that but the bouquets had pungent smelling herbs, flowers, and sometimes garlic. I am so glad we have come such a long way...now our lovely and wonderfully perfumed brides can just have pretty flowers and shower as many times as they'd like before the wedding day!

TIP #1 - KEEP YOUR BOUQUET(S) IN WATER

If you can, try to keep your flowers in water for as long as possible. If you use them for photos before the ceremony just put them back in water as soon as you get back. Nothing kills bouquets faster than holding the for too long before the ceremony and walking down the aisle with wilted flowers.

TIP #2 DRY YOUR FLOWERS BEFORE YOU WALK WITH THEM

Make sure to have a towel, tissue, or paper towels handy so you can dry off the wet stems. Chances are your bridal/bridesmaid dress material is not water-friendly.

TIP #3 CARRY YOUR BOUQUET AT THE WAIST

No ladies, this isn't just another weird tradition. There are some pretty legit reasons why you hold them at your waist. When you hold your bouquet up high, which brides/bridesmaids have the tendency to do, the colors of the flowers can reflect colors onto your skin that can't always be fixed in photography. Not only that it makes your bust look bigger...in this case this isn't always good...so hold your flowers low so you look slim and amazing.

TIP #4 THE BOUQUET IS A PERFECT PLACE TO PUT A SPECIAL WEDDING DETAIL

So many of our brides slip in their something old into the bouquet and I seriously love that idea! Maybe you have a pin from your aunt or a piece of your moms wedding dress...add it into the bouquet and let your photographer know about that special little detail!

TIP #5 MAKE IT EPIC!

How often do you get to carry flowers around? Not that often so make it count! It's such a beautiful addition to everything on your special day so really love it...you will be carrying it all day and will have tons of photos of it!
