AMANDA + JONATHAN | BOOK LOFT GERMAN VILLAGE ENGAGEMENT SESSION, COLUMBUS OHIO

I thought I had written this a awesome couples blog but I looked back and realized that I hadn't!! Must have been because their awesome session was picked up and blogged about already! We sure do love when other publications love our work and couples as much as we do.

I had been texting Amanda all day...there was a chance of rain...HELLO OHIO! We know your awkward weather oh so well. There was a definite chance of rain but Amanda decided it would make for an awesome shoot!! I was so happy they decided to have their shoot in the rain. It was so much fun.

Amanda is a curator at a museum and loves old things. She had a vision for her session to be in German Village because she really loves the architecture and that most of the buildings are old and everything is brick. Now Jonathan on the other hand wanted there to be some greenery. We settled on The Book Loft. It is the coolest old book store with rooms upon rooms of books. Not only is it awesome on the inside but it’s so gorgeous outside. It’s tucked in between two roads and has an adorable path that leads through it outside. This was it, this was the spot.

PROPOSAL STORY

I now know that Jonathan had been working with Jacqlyn to pick out a ring and plan the proposal.  Jonathan’s grandfather, Jack Cohen, was a jeweler, so Jonathan decided to get the ring at a jeweler who knew his grandfather.  Jonathan made the drive to Cincinnati on September 3rd, 2015 and worked with Jester Jewelers to find my perfect ring.  Jonathan finally decided to propose the night before the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah.  Rosh Hashanah is a time of renewal and reflection, so a proposal would be particularly appropriate.  On September 13th, Jonathan’s parents hosted a dinner for my parents, my aunt, Jonathan’s uncle, Oma, Opa (Grandma and Grandpa in German), Jonathan, and myself.  Opa was the boss at all family dinners, yet after the blessing over the bread, Jonathan asked if he could say a few words.  He began a short speech about how he loved me and never wanted to go without my love.  Jonathan then pulled the ring box out of the china cabinet behind him and got down on his knee and asked me to marry him!  Of course I said YES!  Once the ring was on my finger, Opa lead everyone in singing Siman Tov U’mazal Tov, a traditional Jewish wedding song that wishes good luck to the happy couple.  It was a perfect moment, with my perfect person, at the perfect time, and with a perfect ring.

When Amanda and Jonathan walked up to us Amanda was ROCKING the cutest pink dress (we may see a theme here). She looked fantastic! She was the perfect pop of color against the deep and rich tones going on because of the rain.

HOW THEY MET

Jonathan and I met on JDate, a Jewish dating website. Despite the fact that we both went to college in Columbus, we never met during our University years. A few months after graduation in 2013, I was persuaded to join JDate. I found Jonathan's profile and thought he was really cute and funny. After going back and forth for a few days, I finally decided to message him with the help of my best friend (now MOH) Jacqlyn. Jonathan and I exchanged messages on Date for a couple of weeks before moving to text and phone conversations. After about a month of conversation, Jonathan asked me out on a date. On October 5th 2013 Jonathan drove down to Cincinnati for our first date, he even missed an OSU Football game! We both showed up at Red Robin wearing my favorite color, PINK! Roughly 3 weeks later, on November 1st Jonathan officially asked me to be his girlfriend.

He didn’t know it then, but that 25 cent ring out of the gumball machine at Steak n Shake at midnight wouldn’t be the last ring he bought me.

These two are seriously the sweetest! The rain came and they just got cuter. Who doesn't love an intimate session where you get all cozy together under one umbrella!! I guess we could have given them two but they were too cute with just one.

When we showed up Amanda and Jonathan had jumped out of their car so excited! They showed us all their props and ideas and they were super cute. They had a sign with their wedding date, their letters of their name in lights, and some teddy bears they had since they were kids. You'll be seeing those teddy's soon...

Remember when I talked about those teddy bears? Well check these cuties out. They both have had them since they were little kids! I love how much they have in common...right down to their teddy's. I guess if you'd like their bear stories you'll have to ask them!
