TIFFANY + KEITH | HOOVER DAM ENGAGEMENT SESSION, COLUMBUS OHIO ENGAGEMENTS, COLUMBUS OHIO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
For this engagement shoot...we yet again had the chance of rain. Tiffany and Keith didn't mind. They had actually driven up to Columbus for the shoot and were staying with family. Now that's dedication. We were supposed to shoot at Inniswood Park but in preparation for the coming weekends wedding, we had bought some smoke bombs and needed to practice. I looked up Inniswood and realized it was actually a natural garden and reserve...I instantly knew smoke bombs would not be an option for that location. Thankfully, Tiffany and Keith were totally down for the change. I think if helped I told them we had a surprise for them. We headed to the Hoover Dam in Columbus, Ohio and couldn't be happier with the change. This locations is now on our favorites list!
We knew exactly who Tiffany and Keith were by their snazzy clothes and the huge smiles on their faces. We had been following Tiffany on social media sites and all her epic adventures recently and couldn't wait to meet her in person! We said our hello's and got down to business.
Tiffany was rocking some pretty epic heels and totally down to explore around the water! We have had some awesome couples lately and couldn't be more excited to get these photos started. They were super easy to take photos of and honestly it felt like I've known them forever. They were naturals in front of the camera and a joy to be around.
HOW THEY MET
Keith and I met at the University of Cincinnati. I was taking a really difficult philosophy class that I needed as an extra credit and I was struggling in the class. I posted a Facebook status asking people if they knew anyone in the class that would be willing to help and to feel free to contact me. Keith's roommate at the time was a mutual friend of mine and saw the post. He told Keith about the Facebook post and encouraged him to reach out to me. Keith ended up coming to my apartment complex where we worked in the clubhouse studying for this class. I thankfully passed with an A, thanks to my awesome tutor! :) The rest is history!
Describe your style:
Keith and I's style really depends on our mood! We can be casual, elegant, rustic, following the latest trends... It really depends on our mood for us! You can say we are versatile :)
How did you coordinate or decide on the outfits you used in the photographs?
I bought my dress the day before the shoot. BUT I knew that I wanted to wear white, so I told Keith to wear something that would coordinate well with white and that's when he brought up the navy and white stripped shirt, which I thought went perfectly!
Where did you shop for your outfits? :
Nordstrom Rack for my Dress. Keith's shirt was Ralph Lauren - not sure about his jacket and pants. I bought my dress really last minute so when I saw it and tried it on, I knew it was perfect and I had to have it!
Keith called me one day and told me that he would be out of town for my birthday, so he suggested that we go out to a nice dinner before he goes out of town that way we can celebrate. On August 14th Keith drove me to Devou Park, which is where we had our first date. He explained to me that we were a little early for dinner so he figured we would stop at the place where it all started. Keith told me he had a little surprise for me and started reading me a beautiful poem that he wrote. At the end of the poem I was instructed to close my eyes and to not open them until the count of 3. On 3 I opened my eyes and Keith was down on one knee asking me if I would marry him. Of course I said YES! To top it all off, Keith had hired a private photographer to capture our special moment. In addition to that all of our friends and family were waiting at our house for what they though would be a "surprise birthday party". When we showed up, the surprise was on them and it turned into a big engagement party. It was such a great night filled with the people closest to us! Oh and Keith didn't actually have to go out of town on my birthday ;) What a moment and day we will never forget!
NOW FOR SOME SMOKE BOMBS!!!
What’s one piece of advice you would give to other couples for the session?
Don't be nervous. Have fun and just be yourself. The photographers know what they are doing and they will give you guidance on how you should pose, which makes it really easy :)
What were you most anxious, nervous or fearful about prior to your session and what was the outcome?
Having to come up with poses myself was my biggest fear. You all ended up posing us and made it so easy so that was a big relief to me.
Location Location Location:
We went to the Hoover Damm, which was chosen by the photographers. I loved the setting by the water and it was during the golden hour so they were able to get some really great shots. I really liked where we ended up going so I wouldn't have changed it.
This shoot was an absolute blast! We cannot wait for this wedding next JUNE!! Thanks for being amazing and being down for smoke bombs and a change of location. Your wedding will be so perfect! This is a perfect example as to why we offer complimentary mini sessions. We love meeting our couples before their special day and capturing their love.
