RACHEL + ZACK | ALEXANDRIA ENGAGEMENT SESSION PREVIEWS
RACHEL + ZACK | ALEXANDRIA ENGAGEMENT SESSION, ALEXANDRIA VA, COLUMBUS OHIO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Day two in D.C. involved the team traveling to Union Market for some street art...a heart wall to be specific. Brett will tell you it was tiny but it wrapped around the side of the building! We thought it was super cool and a blast to be able to watch another engaged couple actually take photos in front of it while we were there. It was cool being able to watch someone else take photos! Once we realized it was WAY too hot to "hang out" outside we decided to head to Alexandria sooner than we had thought. Also, I don't know if I'm the only one but D.C. has some weird food and weird restaurants in general so we were hoping Alexandria had "normal" food and water with a breeze. We ended up being right on both accounts!
Shout out to Rachel for letting us know how cool Alexandria was!
When we arrived I couldn't help but feel like we were in German Village, if German Village was a million times bigger, by a body of water, and was basically on crack. But seriously, it was too cool! We instantly loved it and apparently everyone else did too. There were SO MANY PEOPLE THERE! It was also the place to walk you dog. For ever person there was about as many pups there too. It was awesome. We arrived and headed straight towards the water in hopes of finding a cool place to eat. We did...but for the seats we wanted we would have had to wait and we were ready to eat so we took to any table available. I tried my first oyster...it was weird and salty but not as gross as I thought it would be. WIN!
After we finished eating we headed to the water for a nap and waited for our couple. We decided to meet at Wilkes St. Tunnel and it was super cool. So, I don't think I had mentioned this but I hadn't met any of our couples from this weekend in person so it was super fun to figure out who they were! Rachel and Zach were kind of hard to miss all dressed up in a tunnel. They seriously were the cutest! Once we met it was instantly like we'd known them forever <3
This was thee most perfect location for an engagement shoot because it was SO HOT and the tunnel gave us natural air conditioning. PERFECTION!!!! Also shout out to amazing couples who look fly in every outfit!
THE PROPOSAL STORY!
When I think about getting married I can worry about everything except if Zack is the right one. Zack is the planner that allows me to wander, the strength to my kindness and the motivation to my contentness. With Zack, I don’t have to plan I just get in the car. And that’s what I did on Wednesday November 23rd the day before Thanksgiving. We were headed home for the holiday and our families would all be there. I didn’t know where we were staying, what time we were getting in or that there was a diamond ring and a bottle of champagne neatly packed in the car for me to miss. I knew I was with Zack and that we were going to have a great weekend, wherever we ended up. The drive was torturous. We encountered detours, accidents, and a few near miss slams on the breaks. I was miserable but I later learned that it was far worse for Zack. He was fighting the clock, traffic, melting ice and the nerves of a man about to pop the question.
We arrived in Columbus after dark and I was slightly surprised to be pulling up to a hotel on High Street but in Zack style he said he “had points” and we were staying in a place that would only accrue more. I’ll take it. The doormen had huge smiles, and made intense eye contact… I was slightly suspicious but remembered that everyone is friendlier in Ohio and smiled back. When we got to our hotel room Zack opened the door for me to enter first. It was dark but glowed with the light from a dozen candles, string lights, roses and a golden banner that read “Will you Marry Me?” I looked back at him and there he was, my future husband, nervously digging through his luggage to find the ring. We laughed, and smiled until he landed on it and dropped to one knee. “Will you spend forever with me?”
Before I laid eyes on the ring, the answer was YES, when I saw the ring, it was EMPHATICALLY YES!
We had absolutely so much fun with this couple that we ended up hanging out with them until about midnight! We headed out for drinks, an amazing meal (thanks to you both), with the best of company. It is so fun to be able to hang out with our couples and find out that they are the coolest.
