Shelby wanted something woodsy so we met up at the Scioto Audubon Metro Park in Columbus. It had been a while since Brett and I have shot there so we were looking forward to it -especially in the fall. It was cold and windy but the light was fantastic so it was totally worth it! Shelby and Carter were awesome as they braved the cold with us, giving them some great cuddle time. As we started to lose light, we headed to North Bank Park to get a few cityscape photos.

"It was the weekend of Carter’s birthday and we were going out for his “birthday dinner”. We had been talking about getting engaged for a while so even though dinner was suppose to be for his birthday I was hoping this was the day! I kept staring at his pockets as we walked into the restaurant to see if there was any object shaped like a ring box. During dinner, I started to get a little suspicious when he wasn’t talking or eating much (which is very unlike him). However, as dinner went on I had convinced myself that the proposal wasn’t happening that day. After dinner, Carter said he wanted to show me a really pretty area on Denison’s campus where he works. We walked up many stairs to an overlook of the campus. Once we got to the top, I noticed a small table and candles lit in an enclosed tree area in the distance. As we got closer, I immediately started crying. The table was set up with flowers, candles, and pictures of us. It is hard to express just how happy I felt in that moment. Carter then told me all the reasons he wanted to marry me and got down on one knee and proposed. And of course, I said “YES!”   -Shelby

"Carter and I had always been friends in high school, but we never dated. I always thought to myself what a great person he was and even tried to play matchmaker with him and my friends because he was just that amazing. Luckily, I was not a very good matchmaker and a few years into college, Carter made his move and told me his feelings for me. We instantly clicked in a more than just friends kind of way. Now he has become my very best friend and I couldn’t imagine life without him."   -Shelby
